Historic Milford Riverwalk
Milford Library Trees
An Old Fashioned Yuletide Stroll
The charming posters for Historic Milford Delaware's Sixth Annual Holiday Stroll are all around town at places like the library, city hall, riverwalk and most of the local shops and the posters contain one of the most beautiful four letter words in the English language- free. Everyone, whether they live in Milford or not, is invited to an old-fashioned celebration of the yuletide season to enjoy free horse-drawn carriage rides, costumed strolling carolers and the Milford Community Band playing Christmas music. Visitors can stroll the three-block downtown district and enter the decorated shops, restaurants, bakery and art galleries. Some shops will have complimentary seasonal treats including hot cider and chocolates, giveaways and raffles. All will have hard to find gifts or gift cards that can be purchased for that special someone or even for your special pet. Entertainment will be going on inside the shops and on the sidewalks including bell ringers, barbershop quartets, bands and faculty/student performances at the Music School of Delaware. Even if you can't come in person you can take this pictorial tour and enjoy some of the sights and sounds of this most wonderful time of year.
Dolce's Display Case
The Dolce' Bakery
One of the sweetest stops in town is the Dolce' Bakery, Coffee, Pastries and Ice Cream Shop. Dolce' will be giving away free samples from their Christmas Dessert Menu. All of their pastries are made from scratch by owner/baker George Carroll. Just looking at the display case made my mouth water. If it's cold order some hot coffee, tea or chocolate and sit down and rest for awhile and don't forget to take some goodies home or place an order for your own upcoming holiday celebration.
Fur-Baby Boutique has Treats for Pets
Fur-Baby Window Display
The Fur-Baby Boutique
The Fur-Baby Boutique invites pet owners to bring their pets in to say hi to their dog mascot who will be dressed as Alfie the Elf- providing of course, that Alfie is co-operative and good natured about wearing his costume the night of the stroll. Free wheat treats will be given to visiting pets and of course more treats can be purchased to bring home. The Fur-Baby Boutique sells many novelty gifts for pets and their yummy holiday treats come in snowman, snowflake and other holiday styles that look so good they make even a human's salivary glands kick into overdrive.

Teddy Bear Christmas Exhibit at Milford Museum
The Milford Museum will be open during the holiday stroll and will be featuring a "Teddy Bear Christmas" exhibit, a Victorian parlor scene with children's toys and a special display of unique miniature lamps. Kids will love the large Christmas tree covered in Teddy Bears! Visitors of all ages are encouraged to come in and learn more about Milford's history. The town was built around the Mispillion River which was home to two centuries of shipbuilding that made Milford a center of the maritime industry. Model ships celebrating that history can be seen in the museum.
Those unable to visit in person can take an online tour of historic Milford post cards at: http://www.milforddemuseum.org/Postcards/ .

The theatre will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items that will benefit Casa Francisco.

You are SO lucky to live in a town that celebrates Christmas like this. Just looking at your Hub put me in the Christmas mood. I'd love to take my Baby into the shop for doggie treats. I could move right into Santa's house, it's So cute. You did another fine Hub. Thanks. I voted it UP, etc. Happy Holidays...
What a lovely hub! Christmas is my favorite time of year and seeing all these wonderful pictures and videos make me happy that Christmas is near.
Your town really is lovely, out of a postcard. Thank you for the virtual tour as I will not be there in person. I would love to see it though.
This was a lovely stroll! The pictures and video is just awesome... Now I wish I was in the position to tour the world.
Gail, I have no choice but to vote this hub up and absolutely fantastic!
HBN, hi, this is great. As is your whole current series. Informative, engaging, entertaining, all. I predict a long and profitable life for this set. Who wouldn't want to visit after seeing around where you live?
The carolers would expire from the heat in a minute down here in Queensland, OZ. Certainly no White Xmas, maybe that's why it seems so beguiling (my wife, who's Canadian, says be careful what you wish for..).
Dear Gail,
Aunt Baby and I will meet you at the Fur Baby Boutique! This is so utterly charming and well presented... puts me very much in the holiday spirit by featuring this fabulous town over the holidays!
Voted UP & UABI-- great job! Hugs, Maria
Hi Gail,
You live in a picture perfect town! Thanks for showing us this charming spot and what they do to celebrate the Christmas season. Up, interesting and beautiful votes!
Me thinks I could hang out at the Dolce Bakery and the Fur Boutique quite nicely - I may be in the car and on my way by morning - oh I can only dream! What a lovely place to be and would wish this upon anyone trying to decide on what to buy for the holidays.
We make it so tedious and so stressful but really it should be what it is intended to be - just joy at being alive and having people in our lives to share the holidays with. Wish I was there~
I love when areas decorate for the holidays, so pretty and nostalgic looking when done well. Thanks for sharing this great walk around a truly fabulous place.
Oh Gail all your hubs are so well presented and thought out.
I love all the information and beautiful photos.
Thank you so much for sharing all this beauty.
Take care my friend and I wish you a wonderful day.
Eddy.
HBN, I love the pics:) Voted up and all across but funny. I enjoyed the stroll very much. It is great knowing that the community is all together on this one. I love all the decorations and the spirit of Christmas. I hope all is well with you and your family Gail. I hope the holiday season treats you right. Until next time, best wishes and take care my dear friend. A great article and reason for certain
Voted it up. Enjoy all the pictures about a town that really has the Christmas spirit. Really liked it.
It must be wonderful to live in a town that goes all out to celebrate Christmas. Puts everyone in the mood and so good to see the community pulling together.
Thank you for sharing Gail
A cheery cheery hub and has my vote
I'm small town kid, so I really enjoyed this!
I love those boots in Lou's bootery! and the window display in the hair salon is so Chrismassy.
Your town is just lovely, thank you for sharing, best wishes MM
"Big cities are fun and I love visiting them, but prefer living in a small town."
So do I. In small towns, we get to know just about everyone, so the secret to getting along is to be friendly to everyone, but mind your own business and stay far away from the gossip.
What a neat area, what a neat time of year! I loved the sign that said, "snow or shine!" That is too cute. It seems like the Riverfront Theater would be great, and I love the Christmas trees lined up at the library. So festive. Thanks for sharing, and I voted up and more. :)
Ooooh, how much fun to take a stroll around town. I would love to take my pet to Fur Babies. She is such a spoiled brat that I bet she would enjoy it. I loved the photos and video. Thanks for sharing them and this wonderful hub.
That's it - I'm moving! You make such wonderful photo-hubs I want to go everywhere!
I lived in Millsboro for several years and I miss the seasons fun, thanks for bringing back some memories.
What a Wonderful Upbeat Hub for the Holidays. Milford sounds so Charming and the Photos are terrific as usual Gail. It looks and sounds like a Post Card. I laughed at the "Fur Baby Boutique" Voted UP as well as Beautiful and so Interesting!
Gail,
Your photos of Milford make me long for my home state of CT. There is something truly magical about Christmas on the Northeastern Coast of the U.S. Your pictures capture that ideal charm.
You may not realize it, but your article also offers to some really good holiday tips like holiday fundraiser trees and decorating slices of cheesecake like Christmas trees.
~voting up and beautiful~
What a great backdrop for creating some wonderful holiday memories. Your pictures were lovely and your prose divine recounting the way Christmas is in your locale. Have a Merry Christmas!
I just love this HBN, really puts me in the spirit. You already know I really appreciate your "tour hubs." This one was great. And I want cheesecake on a stick now!
